From Solo Photo Book Month (via @doctorow):

“Snitchtown” is an essay by Cory Doctorow that first appeared in Forbes.com in June 2007. This SoFoBoMo project is an attempt to illustrate that essay with photographs of some of the 4.2 million CCTV cameras currently estimated to be active in Britain.

  • I was very nervous about going out and taking these photographs - evidence of the extent to which we have been conditioned not to notice CCTV cameras in the UK[1]. Doing so felt like a small reclamation of civic space. Thank you for bringing these photographs (and the excellent essay that they run alongside) to the attention of your readers.
