The Battle For America Has Begun

You’re absolutely correct that it is far from just begun. Perhaps what the “just begun” part reflects is liberals who have been newly radicalized by Bush administration evils. In this respect, I like the way the film connects our current struggles to the past. In my own experience working on voting rights isssues, many of the newly radicalized don’t really get the history behind our current problems and see the issues somewhat one-dimensionally. I’ve found this to be true both of younger activists in their 20s and 30s and of older boomer generation activists who lived through the Civil Rights Movement and ought to know better. It’s been instructive to me to have this way of inferring about how many liberals experienced the Civil Rights Movement as it was happening.
